Words, unread

Currently on our bookshelf are 30 books I have either not read or only partially read. These include novels, short story collections, essays, and long-form works of nonfiction, 95% of which I purchased myself.

I have a problem finishing things. In this instance, seven of the 30 books are those which I have not completely read, not because they weren't great, in fact, of those seven, I count two as favorites. I know that is totally cheating, because I haven't even finished them.

So, friends, I resolve to read all the books on my shelf before I buy any others. I have fantasies of long days spent outside in the sunshine reading all my wonderful books. I'm already thinking of summer. An everlasting summer, so I'll never get old.

Oh, summer. It means so many things to me, most of all youth. Summer is freedom from responsibility and expectations and time. Of course, I'll only be romanticizing it until July, when my thoughts will no doubt turn to the dry, cool breezes of Autumn and then ...

Oh right, back to the books. Here's my list of unread (or mostly-read or partially-read) books. I'll cross them off as I finish them. I'm not putting a time limit on myself, though. My only stipulation is that I cannot buy new books until I am finished with these (or donate, after deciding I don't want to read them).

You never finished The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime? It's so great! One of my favorite books. Laugh-out-loud funny, too. I recommend that you start there.
