Recent projects
I've been on a creative rampage these past couple of weeks. I finished up some projects and have many more in the works. Here are a few:

This painting was inspired by the work of artist Hannah Jones. I love art and artists, and I wish I could buy some original art, but as my salary is barely adequate, ripoffs will have to suffice. I used a handmade stencil for the circles and just selected some colors that I liked. It looks perfect for the space it's in. If only I was an artist like my sister ...
Next up, we have some silhouette pieces. These two are me and Conrad's silhouettes:

I took photos of him and me in profile and used the photos as templates for these paintings. I'm going to do one of Sgt. Whiskers as well. I also did a throw pillow with Conrad's charming visage:

Tres chic!
I'm turning my hallway into a gallery of sorts and I just couldn't have this ugly-ass thermostat in the middle of it all:

I decided to disguise it, though not so well that others wouldn't be able to find it. I looked on Flickr for a photo of some sort of thermometer or temperature gauge or thermostat I liked and found this one by dukepowers:

I bought a shadowbox at Michaels slightly larger than the size of the thermostat, printed the photo and put it in the frame. Then I mounted it on the wall with some long screws. Here's the result:

Now it will blend in with the other photos, paintings and art I have in the hall. Voila!
Later, I will show you the completed result of what I am calling the snow flower lamp. It involves hundreds of paper flowers and in my estimation, will take me about three weeks to complete.

Noticed your posting about the thermostat cover and just though I'd throw this out there. Thermostat covers that do not have good ventilation prevent the circulation of air around the thermostat. This can give the thermostat the wrong impression about the temperature in the room, and may leave you wondering why it's colder/hotter than you thought it should be. Perhaps some discreet holes in the frame? Just throwing that out there.
Hope things are going well. Talk to you soon!

Thanks for the advice. I had actually considered that AFTER I made my thermostat cover and have been contemplating the ramifications. I certainly don't want my electric bill to go up. I have decided to cut a large hole in the bottom so air can travel around the thermostat. You seem well-versed in the ways of the thermostat ... perhaps a career in A/C repair is in your future? ;)
Miss seeing you. How is life/school/every little thing?
